Wearable

Vektortek developed the prototype designs for a wearable that is designed to help prevent back injuries. The system logs movement throughout the day and alerts the user if they have moved in a way that might induce a back injury. These motions and alerts are recorded on the device and then pushed to the cloud for further analytics and for users to vie the information. Vektortek developed the schematics, PCB design, PCB fabrication, case CAD design and case fabrication.

MantaRay

MantaRay is a UAV concept developed as a prototype to see how we could use low cost materials to create a high performance UAV design. Using very inexpensive materials we were able to achieve a high speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) UAV complete with GPS way-point navigation. The plane is capable of taking off and landing like a helicopter as well as speeds over 50 MPH. Vektortek completed all of the CAD work, flight controller integration, airframe fabrication and flight testing.

Hawk Pack

Vektortek developed a micro GSM (cellular) based tracking with units as small as 12 grams with self sustaining solar charging. They were developed specifically to meet the needs of the research biologist in order to track bird migration patterns. These units have been deployed worldwide on birds such as Peregrine Falcons, Swainson Hawks and Golden Eagles. Vektortek was responsible for all of the schematics, PCB design, firmware development, CAD design, RF engineering, composite molds, web based interface and manufacturing.

Variable Pitch Quad Copter

Developed as a central motor variable pitch quad copter in order to give quad copters faster response, longer flight times, variable flight performance while in flight and better response to factors like wind. Initial attempts used a complex gear train which worked but was extremely noisy. This was the first version which used belts to reduce drive train loss as well as improve the noise. Vektortek developed the concept, did all of the CAD design, fabrication, integration and flight testing.

Drone Telemetry and Payload Management

The navy required a water tight telemetry system which could control an on-board camera that was being used to do Whale population counts for NOAA off the coast of Alaska. Vektortek designed the system to control the camera trigger speed based on GPS output so that the drone never had any gaps in between images. The system was also developed with a telemetry so that the camera could be put into different operational modes remotely. The system also doubled as a pinger in the event of a drone crash the system would initiate constant outputs of location in order for rapid recovery.

Lil Dragon

Developed for use as a 250 sized drone kit for STEM education. The copter is a V-tail configuration with a thermoformed shell made from PETG plastic. Using a NAZE32 flight controller, 3S, 2100mah battery and 6" carbon props the copter gets outstanding performance and flight duration. Vektortek completed the CAD design, flight controller integration, parts sourcing, manufacturing and kitting.
